In The Sublime Void, I explore the relationship between human presence and the immensity of existence. A luminous city stretches across the lower edge of the canvas beneath an immense expanse of darkness. This deliberate imbalance places civilization—with its ambition, memory, and achievement—within a scale that makes it appear fragile.
I approach the darkness as a presence: vast, silent, and resistant to understanding. A distant crescent moon offers a small point of recognition, while the fading glow along the horizon marks a threshold between the visible world and what lies beyond our perception.
The city represents the structures through which we seek meaning and permanence. Above it, the open darkness invites me to question how much we can know or possess. Through this encounter of light and darkness, I create a space where certainty gives way to contemplation, and human life appears both vulnerable and precious.
